Begin by completing a CARE House Volunteer Application.
After an application is received, an interview at CARE House will be scheduled. Once a new volunteer has been accepted into the CASA Program, CARE House provides extensive training before the Advocate is assigned a case by the court.
You do not need any special kind of education or experience to serve as a CASA volunteer. We will provide you with all the training and support to serve as an effective advocate. The CASA course work consists of 30 hours of training at CARE house, designed to be a self-paced learning experience. Each CASA volunteer will also need to undergo a background check.
In addition, you will participate in courtroom observation to watch trained advocates in action. All training is completed before you work directly with children on a case. Classroom sessions are offered at a variety of times and dates.
