Janice Morganroth Advocates for Children (JMAC) The Janice Morganroth Advocates for Children (JMAC) program is a court advocacy program for neglected and abused children who are wards of the Circuit Court – Family Division. The program is accredited by the National Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Association. The program trains and supports Advocates who are court appointed to various cases identified by the court. Children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect are the primary focus of the Advocate’s involvement with the case. Once appointed, the Advocate continues with the case until permanency is achieved – whether that is reunification with the family, guardianship or adoption. In some cases, the same Advocate has worked with a child for more than two years, providing a critical element of constancy in the child’s life. JMAC was named in honor and memory of Janice Morganroth, who was instrumental in the development of the program and a long-time supporter and board member of CARE House of Oakland County (home of the Child Abuse and Neglect Council).
