Volunteer:

CARE House Volunteers are special people who give the precious gift of time to make a difference in the life of a child. Without the thousands of hours contributed each year by its volunteers, far fewer children and families would be served. There are many volunteer opportunities at CARE House of Oakland County.

Stories:

There are countless stories of the children who have come to CARE House for hope and healing. These are stories of children who have found a safe place where their voices can be heard and believed. They are stories of courage overcoming fear, of pride overcoming shame. Each story is as unique as each child. Each journey has its own path.

October CASA Meeting

On October 26 at noon we will have our first in a very long time CASA meeting. I am sorry that it has taken so long to have another meeting. A question came up to me about undrstanding the Friend of the Court. I have coming to the meeting the Manager of the Friend of the Court and Deputy Court Administrator to give a presentation about the role of the Friend of the Court. The Friend of the court handles divorce matters where there are questions about child support and child custody. It is relevant to our role as their are many cases where divorce is relevant in the case, where child support could be part of the need for income, where custody and visitation can be addressed.

If there are case related questions or questions on how FOC functions , please send them to me and I will forward them on to the presenters. Someone of you may have your own experiences with FOC that, let's say, don't speak favorably about their role. we need to keep those ot of our conversation on the 26th.

I will need an RSVP for a lunch count.

We will have our first monthly meeting in a long time. I apologize for the delay in holding this meeting because I know how valuable the conversation between advocates are. We will have speakers discussing the Friend of the Court and its role in the Family Court. The FOC deals with child custody in divorce and paternity matters and parent visitation. These issues are often involved in our cases.

If you have questions about FOC, please forward these to me so I forward hem on to our presenters.

We will also have some time to discuss our cases.

please let me know if you will be attending so we can order lunch.
