This year has brought to light several high profile cases of child abuse;
The crimes of respected football coach Jerry Sandusky that continued in the face of inaction by leaders at Penn State University and Second Mile charity.
The publication of internal Boy Scout of America files documenting nearly a century of alleged and unreported abuse by scout leaders.
The revelation that beloved British radio and TV celebrity Jimmy Savile abused hundreds of young girls and that this was widely known by insiders at the BBC and in the press.
These stories highlighted again what CARE House has been working to stop for 35 years: the behaviors of those who abuse children, and the failure of institutions and adults to keep children safe.
Most importantly they sparked a more candid national conversation about who abuses children, warning sign behaviors and our responsibilities and what organizations can do to create a safe environment. By supporting CARE House you are helping to ensure our children are safe. I say, “our” children, because the welfare of every child is our collective responsibility as a community.
Warm Wishes for a peaceful New Year!
